May 1940. Clara's idyllic summer at her beloved Aunt Madeline's French chateau is interrupted by news of the Nazi army's arrival in Northern France. It is only in the heartbreak of war and separation, that she learns her aunt is not all she seems to be and that sometimes the bravest fighters battle quietly.
Rose writes a letter to her father, unable to accept that he will never return from war. This short film is underscored by the beautiful piano piece, 'Grisaille', by Marie Jaëll.
